Development and Implementation of Technology Roadmap
Based in Huntersville, North Carolina, and founded in February 2022, Homefront Brands is a platform company focusing on residential and light commercial property service franchised brands. It currently has 5 franchise concepts: Window Hero, The Designery, Temporary Wall Systems, Top Rail Fence, and Yard Patrol Pros.
From the start, they have experienced hyper growth and needed accurate and up-to-date business intelligence to empower franchisees to grow their businesses efficiently. The corporate office and individual franchise owners wanted to easily see trends and detect anomalies without having to comb through a myriad of data which required high manual effort both from franchise sources and from head office. At the same time, expense predictability, regular reporting, and PowerBI dashboards for ease of use were important to them.
ProServeIT embarked on a Data and Analytics Discovery to develop a data roadmap, a proposed future state architecture, and a detailed implementation plan. The proposed solution includes Azure Synapse and Azure Databricks for data processing and analytics, Azure Key Vault for secure key management, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes with Azure Data Factory and Databricks, a Kimball Dimensional Data Model for data structuring, proactive monitoring using Azure Monitor, code repositories hosted in Azure DevOps, and Power BI for reporting.
Microsoft’s Cloud Scale Analytics was chosen due to its scalability, identity and access management integrated into Microsoft Entra ID, and the completeness of the offering. Its platform ensured that Homefront Brands always had access to the most up-to-date versions of the technology, connecting Homefront Brand’s multi-brand, multi-franchise company structure to information on sales, operations, Quickbooks (third party finance data), and Google Ads (third party marketing and advertising data).
Thanks to the implementation of the data roadmap, Homefront Brands no longer struggles with report creation and out-of-date information across their brands and franchises. They can now easily gather their business information from a single source of truth and produce timely and comprehensive reports and Power BI dashboards for their fast-growing business.
Homefront Brands decided to adopt the Microsoft platform, which emphasizes scale and security along with flexibility and adaptability, as their standard. Currently, they are eager to adopt AI technologies. With Microsoft’s product roadmap and Copilot products, they look forward to applying Copilot to their Power BI instance.
