For over 30 years, Proshred Security, a leading Canadian document shredding company, has provided secure and confidential disposal of sensitive information. With franchise locations across North America, Proshred Security sought to enhance its technology environment, improve cybersecurity, and streamline operations.
Proshred Security faced multiple operational hurdles due to its incompatible technology ecosystem. The diverse mix of applications and platforms led to poor information sharing, complex customer appointment management, inaccurate reporting, and administrative and accounting inefficiencies. These issues significantly impacted business operations and franchise coordination. As such, Proshred Security sought to improve interoperability across corporate and franchise sites while streamlining its infrastructure and bolstering cybersecurity measures.
To overcome the challenges Proshred Security was facing, ProServeIT proposed and executed an IT transformation project. The solution involved migrating from an on-premises data center to the Microsoft Azure Cloud, deploying managed cybersecurity services using Alarm Guardian, and implementing Azure Virtual Desktop for over 300 users. Additionally, device management needs were addressed using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
ProServeIT's Alarm Guardian solution provided real-time monitoring, detection, alerting, and response to security threats, as well as resolution of security incidents for the involved data sources. It also included trend reporting, regular reviews with Proshred Security leadership, and recommendations for enhancements to address new threats.
Furthermore, ProServeIT designed a robust virtual network with multiple subnets and a comprehensive Azure setup, including Azure Virtual Desktop hosts and storage accounts. ProServeIT also provided managed services and service desk support to ensure continuous monitoring, proactive management, and user assistance across 30+ locations.
The successful completion of the IT transformation resulted in significant efficiencies for Proshred Security across its franchise locations. Most notably, operational bottlenecks related to customer appointment management, report generation, and expense reconciliation were eliminated. The implementation of a zero-trust security posture also delivered reassurance to both corporate leaders and franchise owners.
Moreover, migrating from a small public data center to Azure allowed for enhanced infrastructure reliability and security. Additionally, Intune-managed devices and Azure Virtual Desktop environments improved end-user security and productivity. The introduction of managed services and service desk support was well received by over 300 users, including service truck drivers who rely on Intune-managed devices.
Ultimately, this strategic IT transformation allowed Proshred Security to streamline user management, boost productivity across its various locations, and position the company for scalable growth and sustained success.
